This blog is going to explore both sides of the NFL
playing field. As a professional athlete, many players like Chris Canty, have a
responsibility they must fulfill on the field, as a player, and off the field,
as an educator.
As a TEAM NFL Player promoter at United Way and a
member of TEAM CANTY, it is my job to promote Chris Canty’s educational
volunteer goals and help him lower the high school drop out rate, and decrease
the number of high school dropouts in half by 2018. Chris Canty — Super Bowl
XLVI Winner, New York Giants’ Defensive Tackle—is a United Way TEAM Ambassador
— who is passionate about his community service initiative and work with United
Way.
United Way develops programs that makes a difference in the
lives of others and has the power to get everyone involved, working together. You
can help Chris Canty and I, achieve our goal of recruiting 1,000 volunteer
readers, tutors and mentors, in an attempt to help United Way reduce the
overall number of high school dropouts.
In addition to his work with United Way, Chris Canty has his
own foundation, the Chris Canty Foundation
(CCF). CCF is devoted to enhancing the overall development of youth in our
communities. This organization uses sports to make a positive impact on
children through mentoring, educational programming and engaging physical
activities, while promoting health and wellbeing. #TEAMCANTY has the power to
inspire, instruct and educate inside and outside the classroom—to help others
have a good life.
